Vic: Boy hurt mixing chemicals

MELBOURNE, Feb 15 AAP - A 15-year-old Victorian boy burnt his face while playing with
a potentially deadly chemical mixture in the back-yard of his home last night.

The boy was mixing chlorine and another chemical in a plastic soft drink bottle when
the mixture exploded sparking a small fire and splashing chemicals onto his face.

Police said the boy was able to enter the Langwarrin home 50km south-east of Melbourne
to alert his parents who drove him to Frankston hospital where he was treated.

Police and Country Fire Authority officers said the boy was lucky to escape with superficial
injuries.
