NSW: Burrell's trial for murder of Kerry Whelan postponed

SYDNEY, Aug 3 AAP - The trial of a man accused of murdering missing Sydney woman Kerry
Whelan has been postponed.

Bruce Burrell's trial for the murder and kidnapping of Mrs Whelan was to start in the
NSW Supreme Court on September 6.

However, because of a High Court application NSW Supreme Court Justice Graham Barr
today vacated the trial date.

No date has yet been set for the new trial although Justice Barr has listed the matter
for mention on October 1.

There also has been no date set for Burrell's trial for the murder and kidnapping of
Dorothy Davis.

Mrs Whelan was last seen alive in May 1997, while Ms Davis was last seen leaving her
Lurline Bay home to visit a sick friend in May 1995.

All other details in today's hearing have been suppressed.
